Woodwork 10 (Introductory )
This course is designed for students in grades 10, 11 and 12 who have not previously taken woodworking at the secondary level. Students will be assigned 4 main projects: A hand tools projects, a skill-building project to allow students to become familiar with the wood shop and its tools, a design focused project. For the remaining part of the course, students will be able to focus in areas of personal interest such as turning bowls on the lathe, wood carving, furniture making, or creating wood art. Optional projects may include projects such as custom skateboards, baseball bats, chess boards, wood pens, etc. Most projects will allow for students to modify the project design.
Optional Projects: Students may ask to complete personal projects or use wood other than pine. Students may be asked to pay the cost of the additional materials needed to complete these optional, take-home projects.
This course is a prerequisite for advanced woodworking 10-12.
