Independent Studies Studio Arts 2D &/or 3D 11/12 (Semester 2 only)
Students wishing to focus on Visual Arts with their course choices are encouraged to consider Independent Studies in 2D The IDS course allows you to:
- go beyond the regular curriculum and learning outcomes.
- learn in-depth about a topic that interests you.
- create your own projects that fit your needs and interests.
- develop your research skills.
Students who have completed Studio Art 2D/3D 11/12 in semester 1, can request permission from the instructor to take a 4 credit Independent Study Studio Art 2D/3D class in semester 2. The content and instruction is based on the Studio Art BC Ministry curriculum. Students must be ready for self-directed learning with a high degree of independence and responsibility for engagement, time management, and project completion. This Independent studies course includes proposals, projects, artist statements and/or assignments based on the Studio Art Curriculum, Art Fundamentals/Practices and Design Strategies. Students with a good foundation in Visual Art knowledge and understanding are strong candidates for this opportunity.
Students who wish to pursue interests in a Visual Arts career pathway or post-secondary options that require specific, required, independent portfolio development are encouraged to consider this option. It will provide the student with a supportive environment for them to develop their independent work for their portfolio submissions.

Please note that Studio Arts 3D refers to Ceramics and Sculpture, and Ceramics materials are not an option in IDS 2D.
