Drafting 09

This course provides students with the opportunity to explore a number of aspects of drafting and design through mediums such as:

  • Sketching
  • Manual drafting
  • Computer aided drafting and design (CADD) software
  • Model making

Topics covered will include:

  • Fundamentals of drafting
  • Architectural drafting
  • Product design
  • Graphic design

This is a fun course using real-world design problems as part of the process.  The majority of the work will be in the form of student projects, such as designing your own 2000 square foot house.  This course is recommended for all students interested in designing their own living spaces or products, and particularly for those interested in careers in trades, manufacturing, architecture, engineering, and other design professions (i.e. graphic design, interior design, landscape design).

This would be a good course to take in conjunction with other Technology Education courses such as Woodworking, Metalworking and Applied Engineering.  It is also an excellent foundation for those wishing to take Drafting and Design courses at the senior level, and could be useful for students taking Stagecraft for our dramatic/musical productions.

Career Education learning outcomes will be integrated into the curriculum.
