Digital Photography 11

Digital Photography is a course that is designed for students who are interested in learning about digital imaging, manually controlling exposure on a DSLR camera, and using photo-editing software to elevate their photographs.  This course is perfect for students who are interested in visual arts and want to further their understanding of composition, lighting, exposure, and visual communication.
All students will have access to a DSLR camera during class time, and they will learn the basics and beyond when working with Adobe Photoshop as well as other industry standard photo-editing software.  It is hoped that as students gain greater familiarity with this software that they will be able to apply their creative problem-solving skills to design more sophisticated ideas in their work.  Students are expected to use their class time to practice the craft of taking pictures, helping their peers with peer critiques, and/or post-production processes.  Therefore, regular attendance is necessary for success in this course.
Some examples of student assignments are:
  • Portraiture
  • Advertisement
  • Multiple Exposure
  • Using the Bokeh Effect
  • Celebrating Reflections and Distortions
  • Photographs Inspired by Other Artworks and Artists
This course will culminate with students creating a portfolio of their photography.  If you have any further questions, please contact Mrs. Guy.
