Peer Tutoring 10

* Application and permission of the school.

Students can receive credit in Peer Tutoring by providing academic support, homework review and encouragement to fellow students. Opportunities include assisting students in classes or in Focus Block

One-to-one tutoring is also possible. This course is offered outside of the timetable. Tutors are expected to offer 80 hours of student support over the year (or about 30 hours per term), in addition to training. At the grade 12 level, students may be expected to provide leadership in a major project to help others in our school.

Some self-reflection statements from peer tutors:

  •  “The person I was tutoring improved their mark by one full letter grade and was able to maintain that.”
  • “The best way to learn is to teach.”
  • “My favorite thing was seeing people’s faces light up as they understood the concept!”
