PHE: Outdoor Education Pursuits (outside timetable)

The goal of this course is to learn the skills needed to safely, and respectfully, explore the beautiful island we live on.  Throughout the year students will gain the knowledge, experience, and competence to prepare them for a multiple night canoe trip (this trip is optional as extra costs are involved).

Students will learn and practice their skills and knowledge of canoe strokes and water safety, menu planning, equipment maintenance, wilderness first aid, fire building, camp stove cooking, tent set up and tarping.  No prior experience is needed! Course activities will include: hiking, rock climbing, stand up paddle boarding, geocaching, exploration of local beaches, parks and mountains as well as community recreation activities. Some of the above activities are optional enrichment activities, students wishing to participate in them will pay a $60 activity fee.
