Quick Tips for Choosing the Right Math Course in Grade 11

Prerequisite: successful completion of Foundations of Math & Pre-Calculus 10 or permission from the instructor. A final grade of 60% or higher in Foundations and Pre-calculus Mathematics 10 is strongly recommended.   This is course is of similar rigor as pre-calculus 11.

Information: This course is recommended for students who are planning on pursuing post-secondary studies in the fine arts, humanities, or some trade and technical programs.

Topics: Logic and reasoning, graphical analysis (including quadratic functions), angle relationships, statistics, financial literacy, and scale models. Students who successfully master the learning outcomes of this course may continue on to Foundations of Mathematics 12. This course satisfies the Ministry of Education’s mathematics graduation requirements. Students need to pre-plan to determine if Foundations of Math 11 will be acceptable as an entry Math for their chosen post-secondary institution and field of study. Pre-Calculus 11 is accepted as entrance to all post-secondary schools.
