This course is grounded in the First Peoples Principles of Learning. It is designed for all students who are interested in delving deeply into First Peoples oral and written literature. Students will examine texts grounded in diversity of First Peoples cultures, including local Fist nations or Metis communities, deepen their understanding of themselves and others in a changing world, and appreciate the importance of self-representation through authentic First Peoples text. Students may focus on big ideas such as the exploration of text and story to deepen understanding of one’s identity, others, and the world, oral and other texts are socially, culturally, geographical, and historically constructed, and First Peoples voices and text play a role with the process of Reconciliation.
