EFP Literary Studies + New Media 11: This course is designed for students who are interested in exploring First People’s oral and written literature through a range of media. Students will explore various themes, authors, and topics, such as the influence of new media on First Peoples personal and cultural identities, authenticity in representation, new media performance in art in relation to First Peoples themes and journalism and publishing related to First Peoples themes. Students may focus on big ideas such as self-representation through authentic First Peoples text as a means to foster social justice and how First Peoples literature plays a role within the process of Reconciliation.
EPF Literary Studies + Spoken Language 11: This course is designed for students who are interested in studying First Peoples literature and oral tradition and in strengthening their oral language proficiencies. Students will explore First Peoples oral traditions, the relationship between First Peoples literature and personal and cultural traditions, and performance in relation to First Peoples themes. Students may focus on big ideas such as oral and other texts are socially, culturally, and geographically, and historically constructed, voice is powerful and evocative, and First Peoples voices and texts play a role within the process of Reconciliation.
EFP Literary Studies + Writing 11: This course is designed for students who are interested in studying First Peoples literature and using writing for self-expression and communicating in a variety of texts. Students will explore community focused texts, personal and cultural identities in relation to First Peoples in Canada and elsewhere, and the intersection between First Peoples themes and other social justice issues. Students may focus on big ideas such as Fist Peoples literature play a role within the process of Reconciliation, the exploration of text deepens understanding of one’s identity, others, and the world, and people understand text differently depending on their worldviews and perspectives.
