Open to all band students.

Students wishing to take Jazz Band are welcome to join this fun, energetic class. Participation in performances and rehearsals is required; these may occur in the evenings and sometimes take place away from the school. Classes meet at lunch Monday and Wedensdays and Fridays at 7:55am for the entire school year

Course Content

• Study and performance of swing, rock, blues and Latin musical styles
• Ensemble and improvisational solo playing
• The Jazz Bands at Oak Bay  are high profile, performance-oriented courses. A high level of motivation is required. 
• There will be opportunities for small ensemble and combo work.

Note:  Students should register for their grade of jazz classes and will be placed in the fall in one of the three jazz bands based on ability and instrumentation.
