Anatomy & Physiology 12 (formerly Biology 12)
Recommended Prerequisite: Biology 11
Description: Anatomy and Physiology 12 focuses on Human Biology. It is a survey of the body systems and how they are integrated. Detailed topics include scientific method, biochemistry and the following body systems: digestive, circulatory, respiratory, nervous, urinary, and reproductive. A basic understanding of chemistry is a benefit. This course is recommended for those pursuing a career in the Biological or Health Sciences.
Big Ideas:
- Homeostasis is maintained through physiological processes.
- Gene expression, through protein synthesis, is an interaction between genes and the environment.
- Organ systems have complex interrelationships to maintain homeostasis.
Assessment: Formative and summative assessments, assignments, laboratory investigations, fetal pig dissection.
