Open to all music students.

Corequisite: Students taking Jazz Band should also be enrolled in Band 11.

Participation in performances and rehearsals is required; they may occur in the evenings and sometimes take place away from the school. Classes meet at 7:55am  Tuesday and Thursday for the entire school year. 

Course content

• Study and performance of swing, rock, blues and Latin musical styles
• Ensemble and improvisational solo playing
• Jazz Courses at Oak Bay High School are high profile, performance-oriented courses. A high level of motivation is required. There will be opportunities for small ensemble and combo work.

Note:  Students should register for their grade and will be placed in the fall in one of the three jazz bands based on ability and instrumentation.
